ULMA drainage system at the emblematic Port Vauban in Antibes (France)

Situated on the French Riviera, Port Vauban is one of the most important pleasure marinas in the Mediterranean, accommodating up to 1,500 boats, including some of the world's most imposing yachts.
As part of an ambitious transformation plan led by the CCI Nice Côte d'Azur and designed by the renowned architect Philippe Prost (AAPP) in collaboration with the OGI engineering firm, ULMA has contributed with its Kompaqdrain KVFDH150 drainage channel systems, specifically adapted to the challenges of this port environment.

Implementation phases and customised solution
The work, which was carried out in two phases to ensure the continuity of the port's activities during the high season, was a real feat of technical and organisational skill. Thanks to the joint efforts of the developer, architects, engineers and contractors such as TP Spada and Eurovia, the port remained in operation without interruption.
One of the main challenges was to maximise the hydraulic capacity of the channels while respecting the port's space constraints and functional requirements.
The technical solution: cascaded channels with MaxFlow® technology
In response to the needs of the project, ULMA's Engineering Office, in collaboration with TP Spada and Eurovia, designed a drainage system that combines functionality and durability with hydraulic efficiency.
The key: a cascaded slope solution with one-piece KOMPAQDRAIN® KVFDH150.20R and KVFDH150.30R channels, made entirely of polymer concrete, an ideal material for use in marine environments due to its high durability and resistance to corrosion.
This system makes the most of the MaxFlow® technology developed by ULMA, which, thanks to its V-shaped design and progressively widening cross section, allows for improved water drainage. The channel depth is adapted to the increased flow along its length. This results in the following benefits
- Increased flow speed and water drainage capacity.
- Reduced sedimentation, due to the progressive widening of the orifices.
- Compact system for easier installation in spaces with restricted manoeuvrability.
- Hydraulic efficiency without over-sizing the system.
An emblematic port with its eyes on the future
This project is part of Port Vauban's transformation into a benchmark for innovation, sustainability and nautical functionality in Europe. ULMA is proud to have contributed to a project of this magnitude with efficient, durable and customised solutions.
