Amédée Domenech Stadium in France: the importance of what is not seen
The 100-year-old Amédée Domenech rugby stadium in Brive-la-Gaillarde (France) continues to evolve.
A regional benchmark in terms of sports facilities, its history has been built around local sport, although it has also played host to many leading events, such as the World University Rugby Championship and the Content Freestyle Motocross 2007, as well as Coupe de France football matches.
Its importance and longevity can be explained by the fact that its infrastructure has been constantly updated. One of its latest projects has seen the implementation of a quick, easy, effective solution for installing and maintaining electrical and data networks.
Organising and managing sports facilities requires having a suitable cable conduit system, as this can disrupt logistics, is complex to maintain, and is costly when installed underground.
Quick-to-install cable conduits: a double saving
ULMA proposed using its U150 polymer concrete trench drains with covered galvanised steel grating, as this system is specially designed to run, conceal and protect cables.
The RapidLock locking system allows the grating cover to be snapped in and out without the need for tools, therefore ensuring truly efficient operational maintenance.

ULMA's cable conduits make it easier to lay the cables before each match, as the grating covers can be lifted off and returned in a single movement, with no need to use tools.
The gratings do not represent any obstacle to traffic, as they are anti-slip and have a smooth decorative finish. All cables are concealed and the athletes are fully protected.
The Amédé Domenech stadium required 425 linear metres of U150 trench drains with ULMA galvanised steel grating. The system was installed by Art Dan.
