Old buildings on the beachfront
Today we're going to explain why our material is perfect for renovations in coastal areas. And to do this we'll give you an example. Because we can tell you a lot of things, but what really matters here are results.
We're talking about the Maricel residential building, which was built over 40 years ago. We all know already that time is unforgiving... But add to this the location and the deterioration of the building, and this becomes even more true.
The building is located on the beachfront of the Spanish city of Gandía, and the slab faces and the roof coping had been significantly damaged due to saltpetre and environmental humidity. As such, we decided to replace these prefabricated pieces.
Standard prefab and customised solutions
For this project we installed two coping models (MA25 and MAP14) and special slab faces.
So what do I mean by “special”? I mean they were made to measure. The maximum standard size of our slab faces is 36 cm of vertical overhang, and the size required for this project was 45 cm. To produce them we designed a mould in the exact size and supplied the required slab faces made to measure.
If you're planning on carrying out a renovation and the building is suffering from saltpetre-related pathologies, get in touch with us to find out more about our material. You won't regret it!
Anti-detachment protection
Now that we have told you about our prefabricated parts, which you can see in the photos accompanying this text, it is time to tell you how our material helps to protect buildings from detachment. I'll explain:
- The material is practically impermeable and not very porous (it does not absorb moisture).
- It is highly mouldable, so can be used for any element of a construction project. We can produce bespoke pieces with different morphologies and dimensions.
In summary, its properties make it the perfect option for renovating buildings near to salty environments.
